London Walks 'Offer Great Value For Money' For UK Holidaymakers
Sometimes we need a holiday with a difference. The old sun, sea and sand can get tiresome year in and year out. A new type of break has been highlighted recently and is just interesting enough to be worth a look.
A UK holiday which includes the London Walks attraction has been recommended as offering good "value for money" by the judges of an award. The activity has been given the Gold gong in Best Tourism Experience category at the Enjoy England Awards for Excellence. Its panel praised the tours for being a "fun, green, entertaining" thing to do.
"London prides itself on offering a sheer range and depth of attractions, events and history in our city for both business and leisure visitors," Visit London's interim chief executive commented.
Over 400 different on-foot tours are offered by the organisation, run by 70 "world-class" guides – some of which are actors. Themes on the trips include places visited by Gandhi and a walk for food fans in the West End.
London Walks guides include Donald Rumbelow, who is "internationally recognised as the leading authority on Jack the Ripper". Britain's most distinguished crime historian, Donald is the former Curator of the Police Crime Museum, a two-time Chairman of the Crime Writers' Association, and the author of the definitive book on Jack the Ripper - the best-selling The Complete Jack the Ripper.
The company prides itself on its policy of no prepayment and no need to book. This makes them very customer friendly for those who just turn up and want to be entertained.
It is important to dress appropriately for the English climate and stout, comfortable shoes are a must as they do not usually cancel walks for inclement weather.
