Vast, vibrant Sydney is the epitome of the Australian surf, sand and sun cliché. Surrounded by golden beaches and sparkling clear waters this sun-soaked city offers the ultimate outdoor experience. With so much beauty and things to see you will find an abundance of fascinations to keep you occupied while in Sydney.

Things to see:

At the heart of the city is the harbour, arguably one of the most beautiful waterways in the world, where the curves of the Sydney Opera House shimmer in the sunlight and dozens of white sails float beneath the Harbour Bridge. Sydney Harbour makes up a vast part of the city's buzzing atmosphere offering fun activities, which include swimming, sailing, walks and picnics along the beaches, islands, parks and waters. A great place to view the harbour is from one of the headlands or from a boat. There are a number of ferry tours and sailing trips which you can go on.

Another must see while in the magnificent Australian city is the Harbour Bridge. The bridge is the largest steel arch bridge in the world being 134 metres high, 49 metres wide with a curve of 503 metres. The bridge has six million rivets in total, and weighs 52,800 tonnes. It stretches from Dawes Point on one side of the Sydney Harbour to Milsons Point on the other. There aren’t many other places in the world that offer this spectacular structural architecture combined with such beauty. It is definitely worth climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge, which starts from within a stone pylon at one end, then travels along the top of the structure, where there are stunning views.

If you’re looking for a buzzing cafe culture, where you can relax and enjoy a refreshment under the beating sun; a vibrant nightlife where you can explore the multitude of pubs and clubs till the early hours of the morning and an impressive restaurant scene where you can try some of the local cuisine on offer- then the state capital of New South Wales, Sydney is the perfect place. Being the oldest and largest city, this has been regarded as the country’s true capital. The city boasts beautiful architecture and is thriving in both business and the arts.

Macquarie Street stretches from Hyde Park to the Sydney Opera House and hosts a number of public historical buildings of varying design styles. You won’t want to forget your camera and miss out on a chance to get a photo of one of the amazing picturesque buildings- so get your camera and get snapping. Some of the stunning buildings include the Hyde Park Barracks, Government House, Mint Building, Parliament House, the State Library of New South Wales, St. James Church, Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and the Treasury Building.

Where to go:

You can’t visit Sydney and not take the opportunity to see the breathtaking Sydney Opera House, which looks remarkable from a distance but if you go even closer you will be able to see several of the million or so ceramic tiles which cover the Opera house shells. If it’s entertainment you’re looking for then you are guaranteed to find it here- with 4 auditoriums, showing music, ballet, theatre and film performances. If while in this eye-catching building you work up an appetite while taking in all the beauty there are a number of restaurants all serving fabulous food.

A great way to see Sydney is to hop on the informative Sydney Explorer Bus, or alternatively join one of the wonderful Sydney walking tours. There are also a number of Aboriginal tours around Sydney by Sydney Aboriginal Discoveries, where you can find out about the Aborigines in Sydney and Australia- getting the chance to soak up some of the history and culture.

There are many sight to see in Sydney, one of which being the vibrant nightlife scene. Although there are innumerable cafe’s, bars and clubs dotted around the city there is still opportunity for growth due to the vast number of visitors that flock to the city looking for entertainment. A good place to start your nightlife experience is Darling Harbour, which has a variety of electrifying places to go to either relax with a cold beer or sip on a fruity cocktail by the waterfront.

With so much to see in this Australian city, which is draped in culture and history, this really should be your number one for a breathtaking sightseeing holiday.
