France is renowned for being one of the shopping countries of the world, producing a wide array of shopaholics, but Belgium has established an even bigger collection of chocoholics. Belgian chocolate has been the food of champions, a lure for lovers, the indulgence of the rich and famous and a favourite for many, most of which being women.

Indulge your senses:

Belgium has possibly the highest quality of life in the world, as testified by its well designed housing, reliable health care, high standard education, fantastic infrastructure and excellent food.

Relax over a meal of moules frites in one of the very many sensibly priced restaurants of Brussels Rue des Bouchers, located close to the famous Grand Place. Most restaurants have seating outside during the summer months so you can watch the world go by while dining on the exquisite French cuisine, before indulging in some traditional Belgium chocolate. Nothing embodies comfort and indulgence quite like eating gourmet Belgian milk chocolate.

Women love chocolate that is a fact, but the shopaholic in them is bound to come out sooner or later in a city that boasts amazing shopping potential. Maasmechelen is a whole village dedicated to shopping, and is different to many other places as it prides itself on chic and a more casual atmosphere to shopping. So if you want to escape all the frenzied streets of central Belgium and fill your bags so they are heavy with goods, but lighter bills then this is the perfect place to browse the boutique displays, from designer chic to prêt a porter.

If you have shopped all you possibly can, or your feet need a rest from all the trying on fabulous shoes, then why not take a canal boat ride along the waterways of Bruges. Known as the Venice of the North, it’s an excellent and relaxing way to appreciate the fantastic medieval architecture and picturesque views of this historic Flanders city. If you prefer a livelier activity then why not take a sightseeing boat rip along the River Meuse in Southern Belgium, along which the scenery is often spectacular and you can enjoy a few drinks after a long day of indulgence and shopping.

A Woman’s prerogative:

If you’re looking for more indulgence then why not pay homage to the chocolate fountain of youth that is Belgium chocolate and visit the Museum of Chocolate and Cocoa, which is located just off Brussels Grand Place, alternatively you could go to Chocó-Story in Bruges, which will full fill your chocolate desires just as much. A bit of sumptuous chocolate may not be the key to immortality, but it always makes you smile and that's got to keep you young...

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, so while in Belgium don’t miss out on discovering Antwerp’s importance in the world of Diamonds at the Diamond Museum. You will witness gem cutters at work and learn more about the history of the precious stones and their place in the world economy.

After seeing all the beautiful gems in all their glory, you will want to get all glammed up for a night out in the stunning city. No matter where you are in Belgium, there’s a party going on – and you’re invited! With jazz festivals, rock concerts, exotic nightclubs and traditional pubs and casinos all part of daily life located in the heart of Europe. When it comes to variety – Belgium has the spice of life.
