Travel insurance customers 'travelling further afield'
Although taking out travel insurance should be at the forefront of anyones mind before they go on their latest jaunt, it seems that many holidaymakers are choosing to only purchase travel insurance when they travel outside of the Euro Zone.
"Brits are increasingly likely to take out travel insurance for destinations outside Europe", it has been suggested.
According to the Association of British Travel Agents, the number of bookings to places like Egypt, Tunisia and Turkey rose significantly this summer, despite many choosing to stay on the shores of Blighty to save money on 2009's holiday bill.
It also pointed out destinations like Mexico and the Spanish Caribbean were proving popular with holidaymakers, as reduced booking prices and hotel fees proved to be an attractive prospect to the travellers of 09.
"There are lots of all-inclusive deals which make it easier for holidaymakers to control their costs when they're abroad"
"The number of deals has also risen dramatically, with travel agents willing to radically lower their prices to get the punters business."
A spokesperson for a leading travel agency stated most people from the UK would still head to western Europe for their annual getaway.
However, they said the proportion of people opting for destinations further afield were growing at the fastest rate thanks to the offers travel agencies are currently supplying.
"They're getting more people who are wanting to go mid and long-haul because they feel more adventurous, and with a host of fantastic offers and travel agents willing to under-cut one another the market is starting to look up for British travellers. "
