What are the options for parking at an airport?

Driving to an airport rather than using public transport could be one way of reducing the hassle of a holiday.

Many people who take their car to the airport for storage while on their jaunts can often be troubled when it comes to choosing the right parking package for them.

The length of a holiday will obviously have a bearing on the type of car park you may decide to leave your vehicle – for example, a month away could incur a hefty bill compared to a week.

Some companies offer to take your car from the terminal when you arrive and drive it to storage, and upon your return the car will be waiting for you at the terminal again. This service is preferred by a lot of families who just want to get in the car and head home after a long haul flight, especially with the kids being a nuisance.

Some firms can offer different levels of service too – a number will allow you to station your motor in a space a few miles from the terminal and catch a bus. Bus services are regular and depending on which aiport you fly from the distance time to the terminal can be as short as 10 minutes.

Package deals with local hotels could also be attractive, which could take the stress out of driving to an airport a few hours before departure.

The options available can also differ between airports – what is available at a small rural hub could be pretty simple compared to the facilities at larger terminals.

In all cases, the best plan of action could be to have a Q&A with a number of companies to compare quotes on parking fees and what they can offer you. There are often discounts for group travel, so the more cars you use the cheaper it could be to park up. This works perfectly for larger family holidays.
