vakayu - it's a phrase that I haven't heard in years. I worked in Inverness for a couple of months a few years back. It was a nice place - apart from an old shaky footbridge over the river. It would swing when we tried to cross it.
Lol Wolf we are made of stern stuff up here,it does make you feel a bit uneasy doesn't it,the shoogly bridge!MM Nairn is beautiful lovely beaches etc but it has gone downhill recently.
Are the Asher bakeries still going ? ..played golf with Jimmy's brother in Norwich and we had the use of a house in Nairn belonging to the family..last I heard Jimmy had also passed and the sons were running the shops
Me and my mate got a taxi in Birmingham. The Pakistani driver asked, 'What part of Scotland you boys from'?
'You what, we're not from Scotland, we're from Wales'
'Yeah, same thing, innit' he said.
I knew the Asher's in my youth MM yes still thriving,as you say the sons are now running it,two shops in Nairn and I think the same in Inverness and elsewhere.
