I'm thinking of taking a trip to the Red Sea in January/February, but i'm unsure if it will be hot enough to have a fairly relaxing beach holiday? Obviously, it'll be much warmer than the UK, but would it be hot enough for sunbathing, swimming, snokelling etc.?

Thanks.

I went to Hurghada end of january this year and swam and snorkeled in the sea most days. On a couple of days it was a bit windy. It was fairly cool at night though, so jake a warm jacket.
Yes it will be hoy, I went feb last year and it was 100 degrees - it usually is in that area all year round
I've been to Hurghada in February

Found it pleasantly warm 70-80 ish.

Water temperature a little chilly at that time of year and the swimming pool was abolutely freezing. Not being heated it was pretty cold.

I'd say it depends on your sunbathing:swimming ratio.

BTW - If you're going to Egypt and can spend the money and get up to Cairo to see the pyramids and the museum of antiquities for the Tutenkamun stuff I'd recommend it
yes I went to sharm el sheik first week in feb and was roasting. I would also recommend you go to cairo. Is a long trip by coach but slept most of the way and the rest of the time watched interesting sights. some people flew which is more expensive and supposed to be quicker but then found themselves delayed at the airport so i would recommend the bus but take a pillow and blanket for overnight journey. also ensure you buy a visa at the airport. if you get a chance we also climbed mount sinai - was amazing up there watching the sunrise. Quite a religious experience for some - i am not religious but was very moving. It was quite a climb. I am fit but not a climber but managed fine - some bits a bit tough.
i passed through the red sea many, many times to and from the suez canal whilst in merchant navy.i never experienced 'cool' temperatures' at all.
