My son had been on Jobseekers for 3 years then last year he was put on disability benefit. He told us that he's had a tax rebate but we're not sure he's not taken out a loan. My question is - would someone who hasn't been in employment for almost 5 years get a large tax rebate.
Don't know how much but he's been spending money like water and said it's a tax rebate. Told me at first it was £49 then bought a £100 bracelet for his girlfriend etc. etc.
My question would be how can someone without a job get a loan? Or am I being naive. Anyway back to the Tax rebate: If you leave work and claim job seekers you can't claim a tax rebate until you either get another job or at the end of the current tax year. You do not get a tax rebate unless you claim for it and I do know someone who was due a tax rebate and actually got the money in the same time frame as your son.
How would he get a loan, with no income apart from JSA?
Possibly his disability benefit was backdated? but I do not see why he is saying he had a tax rebate.
EDDIES1 - he would tell me that it was a tax rebate because if he said a loan he knows his dad and I would hit the roof.
He could get a loan easy, so many loan sharks out there.
