The Space Station is due over us this week. As it travels at 5 miles a second it can be a blink and you miss it. How do I know where to look in the sky for it?

Can you download the ISSSpotter App to your phone? It tells where, when and for how long each sighting is. You'd be surprised at how often you get the chance to see it.

If you check this week I do a regular update for uk sightings on chatterbank for the past 9 years . lots of people did not know they could see it .Also used to spot the shuttles when they were on there way up to the station . We have the evening sightings at the moment . tonights sighting is 7 59 for 2 mins from th8 43 for 1 min also from the west , I have always used chatterbank for the sightings as more response there .
It doesn't buzz your rooftop and rip have your chimney down .. it is travelling an alltitude of approx 220 miles and at a speed of 17,000 mph.
It is fairly large as it would take almost cover the are of a football field.
If the sky is clear where you are, it is easily identifiable as it always arrives exactly when the chart says it will, and from the stated direction.
The best way to describe it is.. it is the light in the sky that does'nt blink as a plane would. The light is constant.
Good weather tonight with clear skies in the lower half of the uk...
approx 08.00 arrival in the WNW .. you wont miss it as it should be visible for a couple of minutes.
Sorry .. approx 08.00 should have been 8.00pm.
This shows you where the ISS is flying over: http://www.heavens-above.com/orbit.aspx?satid=25544

It becomes visible at 19:50 tonight

Stellarium is a good tool for knowing where in the sky you need to look: http://www.stellarium.org/en_GB/

...make sure you have satellite hints enabled on the bottom panel
