Recycled plastic bottles

On Question Time the other day a lady said that lots of the plastic bottles we recycle are sold to China and don't get recycled and that this is kept quiet by our government, or words to that effect, does anyone have any more info on this ... where do they all go ???

Do they get made into fleece?

PET - can be recycled to make fibre for sleeping bags and anoraks, new packaging, industrial strapping, wall and floor coverings, fleece clothing. It takes approximately 25 bottles to make one fleece jacket.

HDPE - fences, park benches and signposts. It can also be put back into bottles to be recycled again and again.

PVC - drainage pipes, electrical fittings and clothing.
