If Turkey was a true democracy, there might not be so many objections. If Turkey was actually in Europe it might have some justification in trying to become a member, but the vast majority of it is not in Europe. If they passed and upheld laws against men bashing women, I might be a little more sympathetic. ( two-thirds of women in Turkey admit that their husbands bash them )
