My friend has been asked to her local surgery for a diabetic clinic - she was diagnosed with late onset diabetes about 6 months ago and has just been on a diet with no follow ups until now. She has been told she can take a friend and will need a packed lunch, i have volunteered to take her and stay with her. This clinic is taking from 9am to 4,30pm and I am wondering what is going to take all day. Not that it is relevant but we are both 81.

I am guessing that it will be mostly educational things but surely her best bet will be to ask the surgery?
I have been to one of these days, in my area it was called DESMOND. They told how people become diabetic, the unseen dangers, what can be done to extend both quality of life and life itself.

I found it very informative and well worth the effort of going.

I was diagnosed in 2009 at age 58, a few months after I had a similar referral, it was a number of newly diagnosed patients involved and we had a very informative talk from a Diabetes specialist, a Dietician and a Podiatrist, it was worthwhile going to it.

Thank you all, we are definitely going it just seemed a long time to me I mean even with an hour for lunch that's six and a half hours and I am inclined to think that our attention will wander come nap time especially if it's a warm room!!!
