Redundancy payments

Does anybody know about redundancy payments?
I am being made redundant soon, and I have worked for my present employer for twenty one months and have been told that i am entitled to redundancy payment! Is this true because i thought that the cut off for redundancy was two years minimum service?
All advice gratefully accepted.

"You have the right to a redundancy payment if you�re an employee aged between 18 and 65 and have worked continuously for your employer for at least two years"

You need to distinguish between statutory and company redundancy payment. Statutory is defined by law and requires 2 years service but many companies enhance this. This sometimes means they also make a nominal payment to those not eligible for statutory. I would usually make this one week�s pay (capped or uncapped) for each complete year of service. You won�t know for sure until the payments have been calculated what your company intends to do.
