I discharged myself from hospital on Monday so that I could go have a cuddle, with Twin 1 in the Royal Brompton which was fantastic and did me the world of good. No blood pressure medication was ever going to be a substitute for a cuddle with my baby having not seen him for 5 days.
He had his open heart surgery yesterday and so far all signs are good. A 6hr operation ended up lasting 10 hrs as they were monitoring a bleed. I was going slightly nuts as you can imagine. His chest is still open (you can actually see his little heart beating, crazy) in case they need to dive back in again. But I think they'll close it up today/tomorrow.
Has has nearly reached the end of the 24 hour critical time period and so we are cautiously optimistic that he will be well enough to come home soon.
