Chillies In Oil

I have done some chillies in olive oil for the first time, I grilled the chillies cut them up and put them in hot jars and poured the hot oil in, they looked lovely, but after a couple of hours the oil has turned cloudy, is this right? if not what have I done wrong? and will it be fit to use?

Oil that absorbs some moisture from whatever's in it tends to go cloudy. (Check out the contents of a chip pan if you doubt that!).
