Obviously I'm well aware Doc Martin is fictional, but....in last night's episode he demanded that the stray dog who irritated him be put down, and was even on the verge of delivering the lethal injection himself before being interrupted. What kind of message does this send out? Martin Clunes is supposedly a dog-lover, fronting programmes about dogs and other animals. He is THE star of that show an a huge star for ITV, plus his wife is a producer of Doc Martin, so surely he could have objected to such a storyline. I'm deeply disappointed in him. Makes me wonder if he really does love dogs.... What do you think?

Thanks for the link, Mamya. For me though, it was still in bad taste.
I agree with you iloveher, totally ....
Actually, it spoilt the whole series for me because I can't believe now that Louise could possibly contemplate staying with him after she witnessed that. I found nothing humerous or entertaining about it and also agree with iloveher.

I watched it, and just thought it was a bit far fetched, but still enjoyable.

Didn't Clunes play a murderer in a drama a few years ago, who put the dead bodies in barrels of acid, or was it someone else?
It's not a comedy, it's a light hearted programme about a grumpy doctor.

It seems more viewers were harmed than the animals in the show.

Jeez!
Wiki describe it as a medical comedy drama.
Gosh, hate to know how some people feel when they dunk their biscuit and a bit falls off.
I don't think I've ever confused or compared the role an actor as a character takes with what the real person may be like.

They are simply two separate things.
Apparently, Martin Clunes wasn't keen on the scenes either. After filming each scene he picked the dog up and made a fuss over it.
Just as I would have imagined, we need to suspend belief when watching or reading fiction otherwise lines become blurred.
