Can't Access My Gmail Account

My Gmail account is secondary to my main one, but when I now try to enter it I get a request to 'Add Gmail to my Google account' which seems to want me to make Gmail into my main account which I don't want, but I can't get beyond it to see if I have any mail.
Anyone know what is happening please?

This is what I get when I try to enter my Gmail account;

What exactly are they trying to do to me please ? I just want to access my Gmail.
