I'm off to Old trafford on May 27th and was wondering, where is the best place to park the car? We willl, be arriving around 3ish all being well. We don't want to be too far from the ground, and obviously we don't want to pay a fortune either. Is there any after 6 O'clock free parking? We don't know what to do for the best. Also, how far is Old Trafford from manchester City centre? Many thanks

you could try parking at any of the park + ride tram stops on that side of manchester, ie altrincham, brooklands, etc. have a look at the gmpte website, http://www.gmpte.com/

If you prefer to park in a safe place you could park the car in Salford Quays! It's right next to Old Trafford and only takes 10 minutes to walk from the car park

I live in Stockport, and my brother lives in Old Trafford.

There are many side streets around the area, so you would not necessarily have to go in a car park.

I suggest you head for Stretford, just off the motorway and park up anywhere past the Arndale Centre, which you will pass.

Carry on past the Arndale and bear to the right, there are plenty of roads, where you can park your car and walk a short distance to the ground.

Good Luck and enjoy your trip.

If my brother was home that weekend you could have parked there!!! Never mind!

Regards

Thank you all for your extremely helpful answers. Pauline, you made me smile! ;-) Xx

Is there an event on at Old Trafford that day? If so, please avoid the car park touts (shady-looking men in reflective vests bearing hand-written signs for car parks). They will direct you onto private land where you are likely to be clamped, if not have your car broken into.

If you get there early enough, try the car park at Lancashire Cricket Club. The Metrolink stop into Manchester is just around the corner and will take you to Piccadilly Gardens in about 10 minutes.

An alternative car park (free) is the White City Retail Park - but again, get there early if there's an event on (plus there may be a jobsworth patrolling the area...)
