Vw Compensation
Will the receipt today of 6 bottles of wine from the local VW garage for "inconvenience" have any effect on any future compensation claims I may have?

the rule I think you have in mind is "part payment for a whole debt"
at present you havent made a claim and so the fella in red ( = judge ) is unlikely to allow that as an offset
VW have read the books lately ( chap X " how not to screw yourself like BP did over that oil spill " ) and are trying make amends
Timete danaos dona ferentes - hey that is Virgil Aeneid
and they arent danaos they re huns .... joke joke honest

If you've received compensation from your local garage then it's from them personally and almost certainly nothing directly to do with VW. I have a VW which is affected. Nobody has sent me wine, or anything else other than a letter confirming I am affected and they will be in touch asap to advise on the fix and give an appointment for it.
I'm unconvinced there is much prospect for any compensation claims anyway. Presuming VW put the problem right at their own expense where is your loss? Minor inconvenience at returning the car to the dealer for the fix granted but hardly a major lawsuit.

Keep your eyes peeled for the delivery man Skyline.
My concern is threefold, a) will my road fund licence be affected? b) will my fuel consumption be affected? and c) will the residual value of my car be affected?
If the answer to any or all of the above questions is 'yes', then I can hardly be blamed for seeking compensation. If on the other hand, the only inconvenience I suffer is a visit to the dealer to put the problem right, then I shall drink the six bottles of wine and say cheers to them.
