Afternoon everyone
I make hand crafted soaps and bath bombs. I have got all my certificates regarding the ingredients etc but I need a bit advice about trading standards. I am currently making a range of Game of Thrones themed soaps. I wanted to call them Game of Foams but don't know if I can legally call them these and not be done for copy right. If I just have them listed as novelty soaps with no title would I be covered.
Many thanks

As long as you don't use a label or logo that's so close to something connected with 'Game of Thrones' that people might think your products were licensed by the TV company, you can't be regarded as 'passing off' your products as 'official' simply because of the similarity in their names.

That's how I see it anyway but the law around 'passing off' can get very complicated!

I also make Minion soaps but call them Minimen . Should I just nit label those either
No idea, but I love the title you're wanting to use genius!
No expert but I think if you are a small concern you might not draw attention, at least until the relevant inspiration has lost it's pulling power. As they are hand crafted I guess you must be a small concern. Worst comes to worst presumably you get a desist note and have to come up with another label ?
