Does Trump Really Think It Possible To Deport 11 Million People !
http:// www.bbc .co.uk/ news/wo rld-us- canada- 3478384 3
The economy of places like California would plummet overnight. If these 11 million people were white Canadians, we wouldn't hear a peep out of him.
It seems to me he is just playing to the lowest common denominator here...good old fashioned racism and discrimination.

First of all, I have never advocated that we "accept all and sundry" ( your words, not mine) into Britain. As a matter of fact, I am in complete agreement with dave, in that we could, should, and will do more, and I didn't even vote for him ! Unlike you and others, I don't view Britain as a country stuck in a beige 1950's. Britain is a vibrant multi-cultural country, and so it should be.
I have made my position above perfectly clear on a number of previous occasions, so stop asking the question and stop twisting my words !
Back to Trump. Trump is playing the race card here, because he knows it will ring well with his core supporters, the semi-educated, gun toting rednecks, and the nutty-religious, self-styled moral majority. I am surprised that you of all people should be defending him, because as well as insulting black people, Hispanics, and homosexuals, he has also managed to insult women, a foolish thing to do when the American voting public contain millions of Hispanics, and even more women. As Sandy said yesterday, the Hispanic vote is an important sector of the American population, and to alienate it is sheer foolishness. It isn't even a very popular stance to take, as my previous link at 19:39 last night demonstrated.
He is on record as describing Mexicans as criminals and rapists, and he once said ::::
"I will build a great wall — and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me —and I’ll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words."
How anyone can take this risible man seriously is beyond me, even in a country where the Republicans have a history of harbouring nutcases.
But as you have already admitted, Trump has no chance of becoming the next resident of the White House.

Naomi...the situation with illegal immigrants in America, most Hispanics, is complicated. They most certainly do benefit the country, which is obvious to anyone if they drive around California. The economy there and in other States like Texas, would collapse if the illegal immigrant workforce were not there.
America isn't like Britain and the rest of Europe. There is very little state aid in the form of social security benefits. These people are there to work and send money home to their families, and that is why regular amnesties of illegal immigrants take place.

To answer your first question Naomi...he plays the race card as that is what his supporters like to see. He is preaching to the converted. He has proved beyond doubt that he is racist, by his many previous utterances on the subject. Do some research and you will see !
But whether we agree or not on his racism, I am sure we can agree on his stupidity. He is a wealthy wassock !

So you don't mind illegal immigrants being exploited and paid less than a minimum wage by farmers in the USA or UK as long as they pay VAT on everyday purchases etc. That is slave labour and the small amount of tax they pay would not keep the NHS ticking over in the resources these "slaves" would exact from it and you want this country to be more vibrant??
Retrocop....don't twist my words ! Of course I don't want illegal immigrants.
But this thread is about the frankly risible Trump and his plan to "depart 11 million people" Perhaps he can used special trains, as was used in Europe many years ago !
In reality, as everybody agrees, Trump won't be able to sign-off the White House paper clip requisition order, let alone do anything else. He is just a mouth on a stick.

I am not twisting your words. You are saying they provide a useful contribution and pay taxes and can be hired illegally and cheaper. YOU are condoning this. I am not, repeat, twisting your words. You are digging yourself a hole
//So how does that benefit the country? They are illegals - they are unregistered - so if they're working, what are they doing? Not paying their taxes, that's for sure! (I've driven around California).//

Naomi...they are contributing to the economy by picking the fruit, grapes, etc, more cheaply for their American employers, than it would be if the employer used non-illegal workers.//
I am not twisting but YOU are now wriggling!!!

//If that person's friends are concerned with keeping him "on message" rather than expressing his views, perhaps he should consider who his friends are. My friends and I argue interminably over many issues (this included) but none of us would consider censoring any of the others because of their views. //
Okay, now substitute the word "friends" with "employer", keep equal opportunities legislation uppermost in mind and see how that sentence pans out.
If you are self-employed or independently wealthy, you can have the luxury of speaking out. For the rest of us, our AB anonymity is only as good as our ability to refrain from relating too much of our personal lives. If you post from work, your office IT person could probably match your web activity with message timestamps, other tasks permitting.
