Who was the first tv celebrity to use the catchphrase awooga?

I believe it was first used in an episode of Red Dwarf by Craig Charles & Chris Barrie when they were playing Lister & Ace Rimmer.

They were dancing around shouting "Awooga...Awooga...Awooga!"

yes, they use it as a pronunciation of the noise of a distress siren - aa-woooooooog-aa, aa-woooooooog-aa, aa-woooooooog-aa etc

they also call running away during this signal - the awooga waltz

not the first celebrity but there was a kids cartoon about a battling space rabbit (bucky?) who went to battle against an evil frog/toad race.

His ape team mate used to shout it all the time as he charged in to fight the toads

It was also used late by Craig Charles in the Robot Wars series
and by John Fashanu in the Gladiator series.

Haven't watched Red Dwarf in a while but think it predates gen2's suggestion and was used first by Hollie as the siren bust. (Demons and Angels?)

When I was growing up in the 1950's, people of my parents' generation and older commonly used the word "awooga" to represent the sound of old automobile horns, from the 1920's or earlier I think.
