If the re-format was a full format then all data is removed.

I can't answer for certain, but I am sure it would require the services of a professional data recovery company if it is possible at all.

It is possible to recover data from a formatted drive, even if it was a full format.

I beleive that it is not possible if it was a low level format (not the same as a full format).

Therefore if you want to ensure Nigerian scammers cannot obtain data from your drive - put a screwdriver through it - you have been warned.

You and MI5 can buy recovery software for very few pounds (or even obtain it for free).

Yes, data is very much recoverable after a drive has been formatted, there are loads of recovery programs available that will do it, I successfully recovered over 2000 photos from a formatted drive for somebody using recuva a couple of weeks ago.

It did take over 30hours to fully scan a 1TB drive though.

chuck just tried recuva on my formatted camera card it scanned for 56 mins and came up with nothing although there's thousands of deleted pics on that formatted card ??,,
just trying this prog out not looking for any pics to recover

Nothing is guaranteed to work.

Much information is left behind when formatting. Specialist software can recover a lot of it. Once it's over-written several times tho .. it's gone forever.
