Hi Sqad, Arthritus?

My Dad (91) has really bad Arthritis in his hands. He's had a bit of gout in his feet, can you get gout in your hands too? Knuckles look a bit swollen. I said GP as he has Diabetes (type 2). Failing that alternate hot/cold water or ice. Any other tips please, thanks!

Well yes, you can get gout in your hands as indicated by the link of Buenchico's, but that would mean two diagnosis.....arthritis and gout.
Not unusual, but not as common as just one diagnosis, an acute exacerbation of arthritis in his hands.

He is already taking anti-arthritic tablets i presume,although you haven't mentioned them, but i would suggest Ibuprofen 600mgms up to every 6 hours.

Yes, you can use hot and cold applications, but he needs to see his GP to establish a correct diagnosis
