Iran already have soldiers in Syria and have been working closely with the Russians and Assad's Army.
I can assure you, Obama would not be happy for Iran to snatch victory in Libya and Syria. Agreeing to a negotiated settlement over Iran's Nuclear Piwer ambitions was the only sensible option, does not mean the US and Iran are new 'buddies'.

Same scum .Different name. Doesn't matter if I speak Arabic or not.ISIL means nothing to me and is not representative of what I would like to call them but I ain't giving you the chance to reach for the blue pencil :-)
IS, ISIL and ISIS. They seem to have too many names to begin with without using yet another one.

I can understand to whom all four terms apply. I am sure they care not what a faceless ABer calls them but, if it hurts them, then I will use daesh. It isn't a too difficult word to assimilate as it gets more popular in useage.
Retrocop,

The Politicians using 'Daesh' are doing so because it removes the Islamic from their title. It was Obama who first started to do this. Islamic State object to all acronyms because they are rarely used in Arabic. They object to IS, ISIL and ISIS as much much as they object to DAESH. The idea that they offended by it because it sounds like the Arabic word for 'something that crushes' is nonsense. It is because it is an acronym (which are not used in Arabic and sound daft) and because they want Islamic in their title to legitimise themselves.
If you have been paying attention, my preferred name for them is Wahhabi nutcases.
Gromit I think if it p's them off even one little bit it's worth using Daesh. In fact I'm thinking about asking Ed if he can replace any other reference to them with Daesh.
The name Isis already belongs to someone else anyway, she is one of the earliest and most important goddess in ancient Egypt.

Gromit
//my preferred name for them is Wahhabi nutcases.//
Too long. I'm lazy. Daesh is shorter and p's them off.
Ladybirder has it right. ISIL has already been claimed by less infamous people/rivers/gods etc
Is this a case of ISIS , awakening a sleeping giant and filling him with a terrible resolve.?
isis (so called) is loosing inadvertent help and influence from here too;

//The instant messenger app Telegram, created by Russian Internet guru Pavel Durov, says it has blocked 78 accounts associated with the jihadist Islamic State group following the attacks in Paris.

"We were disturbed to learn that Telegram's public channels were being used by ISIS to spread their propaganda," the service said on its own account late Wednesday.

"As a result, this week alone we blocked 78 ISIS-related channels across 12 languages," it added.

Telegram, a free app which was launched in 2013, purports to "provide a secure means of communications everywhere on the planet" and blasts Internet giants Facebook and Google on its website for giving private data to third parties.//
Gromit's right, (for once) The powers that be want people to call IS daesh to disassociate them from islam. I don't buy them not liking it.
don't call then Daesh, you'll upset the F0D.
//The powers that be want people to call IS daesh to disassociate them from islam. //

If that's true, IS it shall be. (Who are 'the powers that be'?).
