Kerosene V Polythene

does anyone know if kerosene (central heating oil) dissolves polythene, as I've got 2x200 litre drums with a slight weep and was going to line the inside with a polythene sheet and fill with oil while the price is low so it may be stored for several months before getting pumped into main tank. I know tank is plastic but may have kero resisting chemicals when made compared to ordinary polythene sheet. I'm looking to use damp proof material as opposed to degradable rubbish bag type plastic. thanks for any advice.

Note: “Poly” drums (the type for water storage) are made of high density plastic, and should not be used to store fuel because over time, the fuel will react with the plastic and gradually deteriorate the drum interior.

Kerosene stored in a plastic container should be used within a year. Kerosene stored in a metal container or tank in a rain-proof shed or underground can be stored for DECADES.

thanks for the links zacs-master, maybe my drums have started to weep due to the plastic being broken down by the oil, so what I've done is put a 6" square piece of polythene into a metal bucket full of kero to see what happens in a few months. it may fall apart when I pull it out i'll have to wait and see
