Hi, can anyone tell me if I can have my catalytic convertor welded back onto the rest of my exhaust? It fell off/detached itself and is now not connected to down pipe (from the engine), but is still attached to the rest of the exhaust. My local garage is trying to charge me a couple of hundered squid and I'm skint!

i welded a cat back on to my exhaust last year. it snapped clean off and welded with no problem at all. went for an M.O.T. three weeks after the thing was welded and passed... so the answer is yes you can weld it and be legal. obviously the weld needs to be solid and air tight. wouldnt be a bad idea to weld a couple of strong points on it to prevent it snapping again.
