Why Do People List Things Ion Ebay, Then Ignore Any Correspondence On It?
11 Answers
there is a car I'm interested in and I asked some questions but the seller does not respond. Do they wan't to flog it or what? I don't get it, I have sold many things and I always respond to potential buyers, why are some sellers so ignorant?

I reply and then they thanks, and that comes up as another question. So it can be that it is showing as a question, but it isn't a new question - it is just a response. If there are questions on there already it could be the reason and you could try contact buyer rather than ask a question.
If there are no questions already than I don't know what to say.

Very annoying Tora, and I find it's not just sellers.....buyers can be just as ignorant. I come across it fairly regularly.
After two days of non-payment I send a reminder email saying I have the item packaged up and ready to post, will get it out to them as soon as payment has been received.
On the third day of non-payment I email to ask them if they've changed their mind or bid in error and want to cancel the sale. I always explain that it won't be a problem to cancel, as long as we go through the proper procedure, and I always add that I apologise if there's another reason why they haven't paid.
On the fourth day I email to tell them that I really don't want to open a non-paying bidder case against them, and hope that this isn't going to be the only option open to me. I often don't get a reply until I've sent the final email, and sometimes they don't even reply to that, and I end up opening a case.
I think I show more patience that a lot of sellers would, but it still doesn't spark some of them into doing the decent thing and replying to me. It's very bad-mannered. It baffles me how folk can be like it.

Fortunately I haven't had many of those, Tora, as I don't buy much - the majority of my transactions are from selling, but I'd look at their feedback to see if it gave a clue as to their reliability. As I think someone else has said, perhaps they are away, unexpectedly taken into hospital, or (God forbid) have slipped off the hook. :o/
I generally find feedback gives a pretty good indication of their reliability.

Tora I know - they show as "response required" in red by the item
what I was trying to say is that on my items it sometimes shows as response required, when it isn't really - it is just a thank you being sent back to me.
I can only get rid of it by typing something else back to them, so I leave it.
So it goes on saying response required and I just ignore it.
It is a foible of ebay........

yes I see grass carp, yes that's a possibility If someone else had also asked a question etc but it still shows as an unread message. FYI you can get rid of the "unanswered question" in red like this:
//When viewing your selling or sold items there is an 'Actions' column at the extreme right. Click on the 'Other Actions' and you get a drop down menu. Select 'mark message as answered'.//
