Laptop Screen Black

Turned my laptop on today and screen stayed black, any ideas please, thx

If it is Windows then during laptop start up keep pressing F8 to go into "safe mode".

Once in safe mode there will be options to fix your laptop. Try a few of them.

You dont say what version of Windows you are on so here are the instructions for Windows 7 but other versions may be different.

Did anything come on as it was starting before Windows shows or is it too quick to show anything?

Look for the key that toggles the laptop screen - it will have the symbol of 2 screens or 2 computers on it - you may also need to press the Fn key.

This is to toggle between laptop screen, laptop screen and external screen or external screen only - so you may need to do it more than once.

eg. if its on key F2 then press and hold Fn then press F2 let go, press F2 again if, let go etc.

Might need a power reset. Remove battery and power lead. Then press and hold down power button for about 2 minutes. Place battery back into laptop and reconnect power lead. Try powering on.
