How Long?

I've been in my new house for a few months now & suddenly (as from a couple of weeks ago) post has started arriving for the previous owners.

I assume they had paid for 're-direction', but suppose that it has now finished.

I wouldn't mind the odd letter, but over the last week or so I've had much more post for them than for me.

I've re-addressed and forwarded everything so far - with notes scribbled on the back of a couple of the envelopes asking them to sort it out.

It's a bit of a faff (no post box anywhere near me) and getting irritating.

How long would you go on for?

"It is only an offence if you open someone else’s mail ‘without reasonable excuse’ or if you ‘intend to act to another’s detriment'.

"..if you are receiving bank statements/cards in someone else’s name then you should act on that immediately. You should tell the sender, either by returning it marked “not known at this address” or by opening the mail and calling any number provided within."

After my OH's cousin moved out of here we started receiving debt collectors letters. After a few months I started opening them and phoning the companies. They stopped arriving and no one questioned me about why I'd opened the letters.
