I have never used Facebook and I certainly do not "hate" it. I have family and friends who do use it, however, and they seem to like it. If a "non-hater" can be allowed an opinion, I think it is a splendid thing that Mark Zuckerberg proposes doing. More power to his elbow!

It's not exactly the widow's mite, though. If he gave away all those shares today he would still be worth $450 million.
In my view charity should be private, not a public announcement to enhance one's reputation.
I wonder why he's not setting up his new organisation as a charity and instead as a limited liability corporation with himself as CEO? In effect he is channelling the money from one of his companies to another.
