We are getting 51 syrians arriving within I think 2 weeks - a little baby of 2 weeks. I do not know where PSNI (peelers) are going to put them as we do have a lot of tension re immigrants - in fact murder. Do hope they get settled and happy for Xmas.

Seems they will initially be in privately rented accommodation JJ, they seem to have planned this through.

I know Mamy - it will be private rented accommodation - I knew that - but there is still a lot of animosity towards immigrants - probably more than a lot that is never reported.

I should say - that the last murder (that I am aware of) was the killing of one guy from one country and another from another country so immigrants killing each other. Sad

Maybe not, but Syria's largest city has - or had - a sizeable Christian population, and it is one of the worst affected areas

Yep Venator - can't remember the finer detail but maybe an African guy who was murdered at the private accommodation then trailed onto the middle of a very busy area and left to die by perhaps an Indian. Please as I say I do not remember the finer details. Big guy who done the killing has been kept in an mentally-ill prison. But to be honest think he should have been extradited to his own country for imprisonment.

Judging from the news on TV tonight they're going to be housed in the lower Malone, Lisburn Rd area. That's mostly student land now so they should be safe enough.

well Sandy you are probably correct - but my link shows that that murder was in university land an area that is probably discreet.

Wasn't the kiler mentally ill? The threat to most refugees here comes from small-minded bigots. They should be safe from them living in the uni area.
