On the basis that Tony Blair listened to bogus information about weapons and then dragged the country into a horrible lost war, I wouldn't place a lot of credence on what Tony Blair listens to and spouts about now.
The man has less than zero credibility where matters of conflict are concerned - I wouldn't trust him to walk my dog round the block if I had one.

Since Mr Blair is earning for and five-figure sums for speeches like this, it is not unreasonable to assume that he has a vested interest in 'giving the people what they want'.
If I had the money, I could book Tony Blair to speak for an hour about the virtues of the paperclip in the modern office to the Combined Stationary Retailers of America and be sure he would be most convincing.
As to what he is saying - on the basis that it's about as pertinent as saying that night follows day in terms of stating the flaming obvious, I would dismiss it in the way I would dismiss anything Tony Blair says, especially from a highly-wedged speaking engagement several thousand miles away.

He is wrong because he Believes he knows about the intricacies of a society of which he has no direct experience.
But then, he has no direct experience of WMD’s, and he believed want he was told there, and spouted it in public, and look at the result.
I am quite willing to believe that support for ISIS is found in a minority of Muslim society, like support for the war in Iraq found support in a minority of British society – but because I, or Mr Blair, may believe something, that does not make it valid.
The difference is, he gets paid five figure fees to offer his unproven and baseless nonsense to gullible foreigners.
The man has not shame, or dignity.
