This story seems a bit odd to me- I'm surprised someone could work for over 2 months in a shop without receiving any pay before asking about pay

Well, I won't be donating to the fundraising website.

It does- but so does the idea of a fund raising site. I'd be too embarrassed at having let this happen to set up an appeal. Reporting the shop-owner or alerting others is one thing- but this seems like begging. I'd also have been embarrassed at missing the apostrophe off JAYS CHRISTMAS FUND so maybe I'm too sensitive.
But I understood the appeal was to raise £30 so he could buy Christmas presents. If the stated objective is to raise enough to cover lost wages, and people give on that basis then fair enough, provided the fund is closed at a given point (maybe £200). If the aim is to raise as much as possible that's a different matter but I suppose it's all legal and you have to admire them in a way
