does it annoy anyone else apart from me when guests on TV "question time" in particular cannot utter one sentence without waiving there hands in the air continuously ,one man in last night episode couldn't even make a one word reply with his right hand gesticulating about, another culprit is Dianne Abbot, probably the worst, it really irritates me,

Dianne Abbot would irritate anyone even if she was armless!!
It doesn't bother me really - we have a saying in our family (not original I know) "Untie my hands, I cannot speak".
Dimbledum slipped up last night, didn't he.
'Have we got any Corbyn supporters in the audience?'
Whoops, hollers, such as never heard before.
'Any tories?'
One hand went up.
And yet in the General Election, Bath had 3x as many Conservative voters as Labour.
Most curious. You'd expect left wingers to avoid anything to do with bath.

Svejk

A shower?
Some people are simply more demonstrative and see gestures as part of their conversation style - others don't.

Be boring if we were all alike.
It's the Gallic influence from the EU.
Who was that mad scientist chap who windmilled his arms when he was talking on tv?
Magnus Pyke ?
That's him! Thanks, mamya.

I doubt he was influenced by the Gaels.
Talking about the audience bias, elsewhere, someone asked, 'Where did they get that audience from?'
'Broadmoor' was the first answer. ;)
Lot of arm waving in Broadmoor is there?
My second language is BSL.....I find it hard not to use my hands to speak... and a useful excuse for a little "accidental" ear clipping.... ;-)
I defy anyone to give simple directions without waving their arms about - or complex ones.
Actually Ivee, I agree with you
I saw a clip and thought oh great a politician is started to use sign-assisted-English - v v useful for the aged deaf because the word order is ENlgish and you can l ip read and get the cues from the signs

and then I thought - erm that isnt the sign for 'govt spending' - I would love to say because it was part of a rabbits anatomy but it wasnt - or she signed something and I thought 'bunnies dont do THAT do they? '- and realised it was vigourous arm waving .....
