After toilet flooding a day or two ago - water marks are on the ceiling on kitchen. Will wait a few weeks for it to dry out and will try and paint it myself.
I assume that your ceiling is white. Give the marks a coat of white gloss paint. When that has dried, apply a coat of white emulsion, or two if you think it needs it.
thanks KJN - could look at that too as I am getting a bit old to be climbing onto kitchen counters etc particularly with the vertigo. I could always spray - will do it when somebody is in the house and holding me up. LOL - that'll be a hard job as I am bit of a handful more than a handful actually.
Hi, if you do use gloss make sure it is the oil based variety or it will not work. I have always used oil based gloss mixed with oil based undercoat and find that with the undercoat in with the gloss it gives the new emulsion something to adhere to.
Oil based is the type you need to wash the brushes out with white spirit and not water. I worked in the trade for many years and always used it and it works well. There are new stain blocks on the market these days but if you have the other why waste money on them.
Just updating you - I googled some stain blocks spray and got a good review with Tesco so have ordered one. Think you spray a few times and then paint over. Will let you know how I have got on.
Well I have got the stain block (aerosol) and matt paint (aerosol) - now I am thinking that when I go to spray on the ceiling the paint will drop/fall.
