The Ronettes

Listening to the The Ronettes again singing all their Christmas songs reminds me of how great this group really were. After over 50 years, has any other girl group got anywhere near them. The lead singer had such a clear and distinctive voice makes on think it was only yesterday she had performed the songs. And what a beautiful smile and sparkling eyes. The so-called girl groups to-day are just plain rubbish compared to The Ronettes!

yes i agree they were a great sounding group mainly because of the phil spector "wall of sound" he created for all of his records "you've lost that loving feeling" for one.but again a great looking girl group, 'loads of masacra and tall wigs lol

And the Ronettes were two sisters and a cousin.
Ronnie Bennett, Estelle Bennett, and Nedra Talley, if my memory is correct.
Ronnie married Phil Spector.
Saw them in the Sixties.
They were very good!

if by near them you mean most selling singles, then yes, they've been surpassed many many times by other girl groups, the daddy of them all (pun intended) being The Spice Girls.

I think Diana Ross and the Supremes were their equal (better IMO)

The mission bells all girl group were terrific in the 60,s and onwards,
Would love them days back to hear them playing again!
