Can anybody tell me why my computer, which is only three years old has started making a 'siren' noise. When I have been on the computer for only an hour/ hour and a half it suddenly starts to make this medium level sound. Is it anything to do with a recent hot wheather. I ofcourse switch it of straight away and when I use it again after a break, its o.k. for a while.

What's the remedy?

It could be that your processor is overheating, and your motherboard is set to notify you of such a fact by this siren you're hearing.

If this is the case, I'd recommend taking the side panel of your case off, and hoovering inside. Dust can sometimes clog up the fans responsible for removing hot air from the processor and case.

Be sure to put the hoover on a low setting, since sucking up components from the motherboard is generally to be avoided!

Your graphics card might have come away from it's original position. My computer used to give out one long continous beep in the same way as yours.

Try playing a game/movie to make the graphics card more active - if the computer beeps, then this is probably the cause.

i had the same prob some time ago, the cpu fan was on it`s way out.
