Mystery Chinese Sauce,glaze. Can anybody help me find it ??
I am trying to find this sauce/glaze, at the supermarket they marinade chicken and pork in it, mostly pork, but all i can describe it as is its Bright Red, and smells lovely but it isn't spicy or hot, its more sweet if anything...I spotted some pork glazed in it and asked the meat counter man wher i could find it in the store, he went off to see his manager, they said they get it in big tubs to marinade their meat in, but had no idea where I could get any myself so I couldn't have any, but he did say that it isnt a jar sauce, its a powder mix ...

12 to 14-pound smoked, ready-to-eat Ham
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 cup strong black brewed coffee
1 cup breadcrumbs
Place ham in a very large pot and fill with water until it covers ham. Cook over high heat on top of stove until water begins to boil. Reduce heat to low, and let ham poach for 1 1/2 hours. While the ham is cooking, prepare the glaze: Combine the brown sugar, vinegar, mustard, and black coffee in a bowl, and stir with a fork until the sugar is dissolved. Add the breadcrumbs and blend. (The glaze will become pasty.)
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Remove the ham from the pot of water and place in a large baking pan. Carve away the excess fat, and some of the rind. Spread the glaze evenly over the ham. Reduce the oven heat to 375 degrees and bake the ham for 20 to 30 minutes, or until the crust is hot and dark brown. Asian Glaze
1/2 cup tomato puree
2 tbls lemon juice
1 tbls rice vinegar or white vinegar
2 tsp grated lemon peel
2 tsp finely chopped gingerroot
2 tsp reduced-sodium soy sauce
1 tsp honey
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp red pepper sauce
1 clove garlic finely chopped
1/2 cup beef broth
2 tsp cornstarch
Cook all ingredients in 1-quart saucepan over medium heat 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Mix broth and cornstarch; stir into hot mixture. Cook about 2 minutes or until thickened
Don't limit the use of this flavorful glaze to pork. Try brushing it on chicken breasts or lean fish fillets when broiling. Set oven control to broil. Spray shallow roasting pan with nonstick cooking spray. Prepare Asian Glaze. Trim fat from pork chops. Place pork in pan. Brush with half of glaze. Broil with tops 7 inches from heat 5 minutes; turn. Brush remaining glaze over pork. Broil 6 minutes longer for medium doneness (160 deg.)
