We all keep memories of our childhood Christmasses - good or bad. What are some of your family traditions regarding Christmas which you never see often these days?
I remember going out with many from our church on Christmas Eve until around 10pm singing carols around the streets, standing under the lamp posts. Most people appreciated it as it was so "Christmassy" - many of the people we sang to were still wrapping presents and came to the doors with money to donate. We always refused it - we didn't do it for that reason, just to wish everyone a Happy Christmas and to (hopefully) pass on a bit of happiness to everyone.
Not sure some parents appreciated us waking their children though!

Was a flaming light bulb, Tony........!

Mum hated Christmas so we didn't really have traditions, Ann......in truth if she could see a way to spoil it she would...

But I made up for it with mine......and they continue...which is nice....x

That's such a shame Gness, I feel for you. Glad you made Christmas special for your children. Now my Mum is no longer with us, I recall all the lovely Christmasses we had as a family .... the memories are so lovely.

Never had a silver threepence, Ann. Had a silver sixpence ( tanner ) though.
Well I like things to go with a bang, Tony......I've had some wonderful experiences with birthday cakes.......I'll tell you one day.....☺

Just read the silver joeys were withdrawn in 1937, but we must have had a hidden hoard in our family!
