The last two in the crossword if anyone can help please.

Heard leaving in the dark from Jersey: ?n?t (4).

Second drink gulped - it's a sign to top barman of recovery: s?l?a?e (7).
Salvage would tie in with recovery but I can't see any other reasoning.

Salvage is right:
s=second
ale is drink
"swallowing" V-sign + AG (Attorney General) -- bar in the legal sense
Knit (Jersey) has been put forward possibly archaic pronunciation of 'Night'

Thanks everyone.
You knit a jersey, and possibly because it resembles "nite", greeting for "good night"???
Knit: "in the dark" less "heard" leaves KNIT!
Doh! :)
Very good !!
