Welcome to Title Builder Beta.

This small piece of kit is designed to make building your Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle question more effective. It should make finding your question easier for others and, the easier it is to find, the more likely someone is to answer it!

To build an easy to find question title simply select the paper and quiz, enter the quiz number if relevant and fill in the Publication Date. Once you’re happy click “Build Title” and the information should populate the Title field. Fill in the final required details of your question as you normally would, and click submit.

As this is a Beta we only have a limited number of papers and quizzes listed. If you think your favourite Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle should be listed here don’t hesitate to contact us.

Remember: You do not have to use the title builder - simply enter the title and question as you normally would and click submit!

I'm surprised that there isn't a thread up for this yet. (Apologies if there is one)

I started on it this afternoon, having only returned to the UK this morning.

Just a couple of loose ends to tie up, but most of it was pretty straightforward.

I loved the idea of including the code-square within the grid itself.

Just finished after many days of head-scratching. After a fair amount of staring and cold-solving I was really pleased to have worked out some useful logic around the answers that overlapped with two of the Playfair squares... only to be completely flummoxed (and therefore doubting myself) when no phrases seemed to fit. Turns out I had 23a wrong. I see I'm not on the only one. For me this was the only weakness of a very tough but fair puzzle. There are two legitimate answers for 23a (differing in just one letter) and the one I initially found not only meant fruitless searching for a non-existent keyword but also made me rule out the obvious (and correct) answer at 29a. Got there in the end, though! Thanks Horvendile.
