Foul Mouthed Workman Keeps Causing Problem
34 Answers
Not sure what to do about this. Our lovely neighbours have a nuisance window cleaner. I've had to ask him in the past not to plant his ladders on my front garden without asking first - I like to be asked, I don't like looking up and seeing some ladders across my front bay. Today I heard a crunching noise outsdie and looked out to find him standing on a wooden trough-shaped planter to reach their windows. He shouted and swore at me, saying it's no problem and he'd pay for it anyway if he damaged it.
I really hate being sworn at, it provokes a very bad fight or flight reaction in me and I'm still very shakey and want to both cry my eyes out and also terminate the bullying lump of poo.
In practical terms what should I really do?

Tricky. It is not right that you be abused in your own home, that is not acceptable. Ask your neighbours if they have contact information for their window cleaner and pass the details on to the local police and ask them to have a 'quiet word' with him about his attitude and language. Abusive language and threatening behaviour are Public Order offences - I am sure...

well mosaic - sorry to hear this is getting you down.
you dont need CCTV just get his abuse on a phone or camera
and then poss install CCTV
and the police would be interested so long as you have the film
and come on now - dry your eyes, have a cup of tea and wonder if worse things have happened at sea ....

Oh my goodness, what melodrama.
It's nowhere near time for the police, or the opposite extreme of "getting the boys around to 'ave a word."
This is simply a matter of one of the neighbour's workmen overstepping the mark. The chap needs putting in his place by his employer, the neighbour, or to be fired and replaced by a more civil window cleaner. If the neighbour won't help then more serious measures may be needed - but not yet.

no ellipsis or perhaps yes ellipsis
it is enough to have a PIN served on him ( step zero in the harrassment routine )
I know because I have had a PIN served on me for MUCH less !
PIN is a police information notice telling the fella to lay off.
( I had served a small claims summons on a neighbour who thought this would solve her legal problems ...... hur hur hur )
[ In my case the Judge gave her short shrift and judgement for me ( O wise solomon of the small claims ! ) and so she tried it again ! but that as they say is another story ]
