Relationship Conselling
5 Answers
HI there, Just recently my partner and I split up but have now decided that we just need to sort a few things out therefor we want to see a relationship consellor to see if they could help. Both my partner and I are on low incomes and have consulted 'Relate' but it would cost quite alot to see them, which we really can't afford. Can anyone suggest another organisation etc... That we could try. We live near York if that helps. Thanks alot guys.

I don't know what your issues are, but wonder whether it would make communication easier between you if you separately sat down and listed what your thought your problem areas were? . Then make a quiet time to sit down and talk through them one at a time, listening to what the other has to say, and their point of view and acting as if an "invisible counsellor" was in the room listening to you. Sometimes, it helps to see things in black and white and approach them from a different angle, i.e. "if I were advising a friend on this dilemma, what would I say? What would I suggest which might help? Perhaps you have both been too close to your own problems to be able to see the wood for the trees. Taking a step back and more analytical approach might offer you a different way of tackling your problems.
