Morning everyone a bit early for questions but hopefully someone can help.
Has anyone had a new bathroom recently and how much did they pay. Had a quote this week for £6,300, by reputable local firm with excellent feedback. This includes absolutely everything, electric shower over bath, bath screen, heated towel rail, fitted units to give me storage space for cleaning materials, tiling and anything else you can think of including skip to take away debris. Does this seem a reasonable price for relatively small bathroom. Thanks for help everyone.

still seems a wee bit high to me...depends on your fittings of course ...cost all the hardware yourself..easily done ...then look at how much labour is being charged....will take a few days to do...
It sounds like a good price to me. We were quoted £19,0000 for a fairly small bathroom about 10 years ago. [we said no, and just had our avocado-coloured bath and sink painted white, and still have old tiling etc.]
^^excuse me, I should have said basin, not sink! Showing my class, there;)
Sounds like you have a lot doing with possible multiple tradesmen: electrician, plumber, fitter, chippie, whoever. And I'm unsure how many days work that would be. Labour can add up.

On the one hand £6.3k to revamp the whole of say ⅛th of your, what, £180k house?, seems not unreasonable; when you price it bit by bit it may not seem so justifiable.

I think you would do well to follow MM's advice, try to work out what is going to be spent on materials etc, and see whether what is left is reasonable in terms of how many are working on it for x days.
my mum had hers done last year completely gutted the bathroom a wall knocked down and new ceilng lights plus a walk in shower all in £ 6000
19 k is outragous !!
mum had her bathroom completely revamped, bath out large shower in with curved screens...no doors..loo..basin.vanity units, floors AND walls tiled..recessed lights..storage, wall mirror whole caboodle 4.5 K
£19k ? Ouch ! Would you have expensive tastes :-)
I'm curious as to what the average is now.
As minty says, it seems slightly high but it's sometimes worth paying a bit more for a professional hassle-free experience. We had our main bathroom and en-suite done about 3 years ago with all mod-cons including underfloor heating LED downlighters blue-tooth showers for £11k.
I agree 19k is outrageous. We didn't have expensive taste, just asked about a new bath, basin, shower, tiling and storage space. When we heard that price we didn't go much further with it.
It's always better if you can to get at least 3 quotes, that way you get to see if they all round the same price area. If they are then you can take the one with the best reputation.
A lady asked me to have a look and see if I could fit grab rails in her bathroom I was totally amazed at the level of finish ... and very unsure if I should begin to damage the tiles.
Her husband had suffered a stroke recently and she wanted him to retain as much independence as possible. She asked me fif I could fit as many as needed, in every place I thought they should be.
Telling her that her tiles were the best I have ever seen, I said that the only way I would fit a grab rail was knowing that the fixing was 100% secure and that the tiles will have holes in them should she decide to remove the handrails in the future. This would not look good if she came to sell the apartment.
She then said she would have it re-tiled if need be ... I said it looked as though it had just been done. She said she had just had it done a few months ago ... I said it looked very expensive ... she said it wasn't ... only £52,000.

... I went ahead and drilled 40 holes in the tiles !
EEK !!
ZM what are blue tooth showers?
Wolfgang think Bluetooth showers have music systems fitted to them
Lang bathrooms as with kitchens price depends quality of fittings you use price for fitting is the same
The size of the room really isn't important in these things, Langara. It will all depend on the cost of the materials. It's quite easy to spend that sum on those alone.

We'd really need a breakdown on the quoted items to have any useful opinion.
Also, is that £5250 plus VAT?
