yukka tree

i have a problem with my yukka tree athick stem has grown out of the centre will it flower or shoud i cut it off before it over powers the tree it ruins the look i wanted

This is the flower stalk. It may well grow to at least 8' and will be spectacular later in the summer. I've been searching my yuccas today but here in the far and frozed north there are no signs of any flowers stalks yet.
