Climbing plant suitable for a large pot??

I'm looking for a climbing plant, one that flowers and is either evergreen or semi-evergreen!!! The catch is that it will be planted in a large pot on a sunny patio. Ideally I am looking for a plant that will not have to be continually re-potted.

Does such a thing exist? can anyone make any suggestions please? Thanks.

Clematis can be grown in pots and usually I'd recommend a group 2 or 3 clematis, but there's no reason why you couldn't grow a cirrhosa in a pot of a decent size (I'd say a minimum of 20inches deep and wide). They need to grow in well drained soil, be watered and fed regularly, and have the base of the plant shaded, and don't use a plastic pot because it will cook the plant in summer and won't protect it enough from cold in the winter. If you like this idea have a look at Freckles which has very unusual winter flowers, but any of the cirrhosas are lovely. If you want something smaller look at Avalanche, Pixie or Cartmanii Joe. I think Plocket's choice of clematis are good ones, I've had one in a pot,growing well for about 12 years now (Clematis 'Mme Julia Correvon') although mines not an evergreen one. Another one you may wish to consider is Trachelospermum jasminoides or star jasmin, not a true jasmin but very similar, among its many merits is a tollerance to dry soils, which may be a bonus in a large pot.
