Lucan’s only son has applied under the Presumption of Death Act to have him officially declared dead.

The case of whether Lord Lucan should be presumed dead will be heard by a judge in the ­Chancery Division in February or March.

I wonder what the judge will make of the tiger!

Surely "killed himself" is more or less established? The tiger bit is strange, but he did have a friend who kept tigers. Burying him in the woods, or just disclosing it to the police might be more normal, but we know the latter never happened.
