Re-Soling Shoes

Anyone know how much it is to get a pair of kids' shoes re-soled and if it's worth it?

You could try the stick on soles (about six quid, including the special glue, from High Street heel bars, such as Timpson's) but the price of 'proper' shoe repairs would probably be several times what you could get a cheap pair of kids' shoes for from somewhere like Shoe Zone.

I think I actually mean re-heeling, I'll ring the Timson place tomorrow - they were expensive (for kids' school shoes) and a cheap pair will only last about a month (I know from experience).

You need to go to a decent cobblers. I have recently had a pair of Ecco shoes re-soled and heeled. It cost £20.00 but they are as good as new. They are better than new, in fact, because they are soft and malleable and fit me like a glove.

It's tricky because he will only wear them until July (new ones in September) but I could end buying a cheap pair (which are horrible) every month if I don't get the decent ones sorted. I'll ring tomorrow and see how much it is (but even £20 is cheaper than buying a succession of 'cheap' shoes and it'll save me having to go to an actual shop and deal with people).

We have just the one shoe repair shop in town (or at least, it is the only one i am aware of) and i took a pair of £14.99 brogues in last year to be soled and heeled. His charge? £24.99!! Obviously i declined, threw them in the nearest bin and bought a brand new pair at Shoezone.

The shoes were £45 and they're really comfy - no wear on the top bit. I'm loathe to swap them for cheap shoes as they are rubbish and clumpy. I'll ring them tomorrow & get a price.
