Is the creamy sludge underneath your oil filler cap? if so this could just mean your engine is not getting hot enough, do you just do short journeys?
Where are the lot of fumes coming from? you do not usualy get a lot of fumes with a faulty head gasket unless oil is seeping out from the head gasket onto the exhaust.
If you have oil in the coolant in the radiator it could be the head gasket.
How does the car drive? OK or not?
Just bought one just like that for a tempory car and found exactly the same sludge.
I was worried too until I checked it out and heard the same.
I've been running it now for about 1500 miles and the coolant level hasn't dropped at all so I'm pretty sure it's not the head gasket.
Apparently the rocker cover metal is rather thin and they tend to get a lot of condensation.
Don't panic unless the coolant level starts to go down.
Oh and if it's anything like mine it runs very cool as well.
